118 Harrison Street – The Watts House
This house was built in 1907 by Hubert Watts, a private banker. Watts undertook the construction with his wife in mind. Unfortunately, before his dream could be realized, she passed away. Joseph Coleman purchased the home from Watts in 1913 for his own family and it remained in the Coleman family for some time. The lot was part of three land parcels that were originally of the Tabbs-Slaughter-Diggs property, 117 Madison Street. The architecture is reminiscent of English Tudor and is one of the few such examples in the city. This is the only Tudor style house in the Garland Hill Historic District.
